Frequently asked questions.

  • When is your next shop update?

Lately I’ve prioritized in-person events or art fairs to sell my work, but I aim to have online shop updates a couple times per year! Make sure to follow us on social media channels @arborleigh for updates and subscribe to our newsletter (form is at the bottom of the page!) for notifications.

Where can I find your work IRL?

Arbor Leigh is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and most of the shows we participate in take place in southeast Michigan - but occasionally we can be found elsewhere! Check out our list of upcoming shows to plan your visit.

    What are seconds?

Things happen - sometimes the rim of a pot is wonky or a pot gets off center; glaze runs or pinholes too much or just isn’t quite right; or a pot sticks to the kiln shelf and chips. Seconds are not-quite-right pieces that are perfectly safe, functional, and beautiful, but don’t quite meet our quality standards to sell at full price.

Seconds will be clearly marked and discounted from full price. Images will be included to show the imperfection and detailed in the description of any piece with a seconds label.

  • How quickly do you ship, and what are the transit times?

We aim to ship all orders within 3-5 business days unless otherwise noted. Standard shipping is via USPS First Class or Priority Mail. The typical transit time for USPS First Class is 3-5 days and Priority is 2-3 days, but occasionally the postal service may experience delays that are outside of our control. Priority Mail Express is available for an additional charge.

What if my package is lost or stolen?

We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages and encourage you to file a claim with the postal service. While we do not offer refunds for missing packages, orders shipped via USPS Priority are insured up to $50 and USPS Priority Express are insured up to $100.

  • What materials do you use?

All of our pottery is made with stoneware clays that are bisque-fired, then glazed, and then fired again to vitrify. All pottery items, unless otherwise noted, are food safe.

All earrings are made from polymer clay and feature plated brass jump rings (the circular bits that connect pieces) and stainless steel findings (the parts that go through your ear).

    Are your earrings hypoallergenic?

That depends! All of our earring findings are made with stainless steel findings, which is considered hypoallergenic for most wearers. That being said, some people do have sensitivity to this type of metal. If you have known sensitivities or preferences for other metals, please reach out to us and we’ll do our best to find an alternative that meets your needs!

Can I put mugs or dishes in the microwave or dishwasher?

Unless otherwise noted in the item’s description, our pottery pieces are food safe and can be microwaved and dish-washed on the top rack. While items can be put in the dishwasher, we highly recommend hand-washing to preserve the vibrancy and life of the piece.

How do I care for earrings?

Please treat all jewelry with care and store in a dry, clean place. If dropped or stored incorrectly, earrings may break or become damaged.

Polymer clay should avoid any contact with water, makeup, hair styling products, and perfumes.

Clay pieces may be gently cleaned with a damp cloth.

  • We do not accept returns or cancellations, so please make sure to review the item descriptions and ask any questions before placing an order.

All products are final sale. If your item arrives damaged, or breaks within one week of purchase, please contact hello@arborleigh.com. We will either replace the item (depending on availability) or issue store credit towards a future purchase!
